In this pandemic going out is not safe, so we come up with some ideas for creating fertilizers for your plants at home. Today we will use a very common vegetable waste we use daily in our kitchen. It has long been known for its beneficial properties, but its peel we throw them in dustbin. Yes, we are talking about widely used onion. Some research paper shown its potential as organic fertilizers. Onion fertilizers help to get higher yield and its saturate the soil with substance which necessary for plant growth.
How to make fertilizer from onion skin?
To prepare home made fertilizer from onion skin has several ways:
Cover you plant by wast onion skin:
Simply cover up/mulch your plant with leftover onion skins, the dry skins will decompose soon and your plant will get enriched soil with potassium, calcium, Iron etc.
Onion peel tea:
To make onion peel tea, take a bowl of onion skins and soak them in 1-liter water for the next 24 hours. Once the peel is soaked the water will be colored and thick, strain it in a jar. Now your onion skin tea fertilizer is ready! It’s so simple! Feed your plants with it 3-4 times in a month, and see the result.
Using onion peel tea will increase your plants disease resistance, growth, strong stems, and productivity. This onion peel tea will also be rich in Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, and Copper.
Please note, don’t use onion peels with your worm compost as worm don’t like the onion 🙂
